Dance Kinesiology Research Paper Topics
Dance Kinesiology Research Paper TopicsThere are various areas of interest when it comes to dance kinesiology research paper topics. These may be dealing with the development of dance as a practice, or dancing as a performance. Both may have unique problems that dance is designed to solve, and hence, can be a part of these topics. It is also very important to make it clear that things can be included in the study as the topic.First of all, what do you consider a problem? What are the conditions that you want to study? If this is the case, then what will you investigate in order to understand the problem? There is no point in studying just one problem if it will just be an isolated one. Rather, you should be able to understand the conditions that affect other issues as well.Another thing you should consider when it comes to dance kinesiology research paper topics is the method you will use to help understand the issue. What types of methods will you look into? There are several differ ent methods that have been used for the past. In this day and age, with more technology, more research papers have been able to be written that deal with new ways to learn. Hence, this allows for more experimentation and improvement. It is also important to clarify what research paper topics are in the first place. The problem of the paper that is prepared has to address the question of whether there is a problem that needs to be solved. While there may be some of the same issues that are brought up time and again, this is not to say that there is a problem with one method over another.Dance is a very popular form of performance. While it has roots in culture, it is also an art form. This means that the styles of dance also need to be studied so that the study can be informative. When these styles are considered, they need to be tested for their safety, their ability to improve performance, and how they affect the people who are using them.Dance has many elements that need to be cons idered, including the combinations of music, instruments, as well as movements that were used. These are all major factors in dance. When these elements are mixed with each other, there needs to be an understanding of what affects these elements. This will give the dancer a better knowledge of how they will interact with the music and will provide them with an idea of what their capabilities are.Dance has many different movements that are necessary to perform at a professional level. This means that there needs to be an understanding of the differences between basic and advanced moves. The dancer must be able to perform these basic as well as advanced moves properly, and the understanding of these must be combined with the knowledge of the current issues that have been noted. These will help the dancer to make it through the performance and still find room for improvement. In order to be successful, dance kinesiology research paper topics should be written with the importance of comm unicating that the writer has an idea on what is to be learned about dance. It should also be written in such a way that it can be easily understood by the reader. The information needs to be clear and easy to follow.

Chilean Mines Free Essays
Knowing Your Audience Com. Release Michelle Jones OXBOW/275 April 28, 2013 Dry. Monica Gallant The Chilean Mine Collapse On August 5, 2010, a main access tunnel of a mine in Chile, owned by Companion Mineral San Stefan Primmer, collapsed and trapped 33 miners. We will write a custom essay sample on Chilean Mines or any similar topic only for you Order Now There are very serious risks when it comes to mining and the control of those risks determines the safety of the miners. Crucial Considerations and the Audience When you have a tragic situation like this, there are so many people who are affected which include the families of the miners and their co-workers. The miners families as well as the co-workers are obviously close to them will be saddened and troubled so they are going to be extremely sensitive by the event. Dealing with this type of audience, it is imperative that you pay attention to how you word the intended information, watch your tone when you are making an announcement concerning all Involved and consider your audiences emotions and their concerns. Potential Needs of the Families of the Miners It would be terribly difficult knowing that I had a family member who was trapped in a mine and there was nothing I could do about It. I would want to know every detail possible about the incident and if everything was being done to rescue these poor individuals. It is imperative that as family members, we understand what caused the Incident, which miners were Involved. If any perished. Is there a way to contact them and to keep us informed of any new occurrences. Above all else, I feel it is important to be honest and to not leave out any details. The sooner what is known is easier to deal with. Potential Needs of the Minerââ¬â¢s Co-workers As an employee who works for the mines, you understand the risk that is involved. It s important to deliver such news in a professional and appropriate manner; not to mention, reassure the other employees they are not In any danger when they return to work. It is also important to treat the co-workers as family members because in a sense, this is their home away from home. They wish to know all that is going on. Actions that are taken before and after the Message Is delivered In a situation such as this, I feel it is best that you understand who your audience is before any message is delivered. To me, a prepared statement should be given both in person and through the media. Speaking to the people face-to-face lets the family members and the co-workers know that they matter and the trapped miners are important enough to meet with these individuals. Giving a statement through the media lets others know that they are doing all that they can to make sure these miners are rescued safely and keeps family members that are not in the area caught up in the latest developments. To the Families (through media) T ay at moon, a tragedy occurred in one our mines. Joe Turner Come and Gone free essay sample
Joe Turner Come and Gone is a play primarily about African Americans in search of their cultural identity following the repression of American slavery. For Loomis, being enslaved and dealing with negative scenarios during and after his escape from Joe Turner, not only caused him a loss of identity, but it also affected his personal confidence and the psychological aspect of his thoughts. Consequential lack of self-confidence and faith within oneself. However, being around positive people and situations is important aspect for one to rediscover their self which Loomis is able to accomplish with the help of Bynum. Herald Loomis lost his self after being enslaved for seven years. Periodically, Loomis begins to lose his mind. Loomis and his daughter who are in search for his wife Martha reach the boarding house with Bynum and several other characters living in it. ââ¬Å"Sixty something Bynum is a border who is known to the other characters to be root worker/ conjure man, also known as medicine man, have the ability to tap into the force of spirits. We will write a custom essay sample on Joe Turner Come and Gone or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This is an ability that allows Bynum to help various characters throughout the course of the play (Shannon, Williams pg. 161). Loomis is one of the individuals Bynum helps find his identity as well as inner peace that Loomis lacks. Unsure of the reason being a slave of Joe Turner is one of many unanswered questions Loomis is not aware of. Talking to Bynum in search of his wife Martha, Loomis states, why he got to catch me going down the road by my lonesome? He told me I was worthless. Worthless is something you throw away. Something you donââ¬â¢t bother with. I aint see him throw me away. Wouldnt even let me stay away when I was by my lonesome. I aint tried to catch him when he was going down the road. So I must got something he want. What I got? (Wilson, pg. 73) Loomis is mentally disturbed and is looking for answer he believes his wife will help him find. Though he states he isnââ¬â¢t worthless, Joe Turners words have made a strong impact on him who psychologically play role in his life and self-confidence. In his mind he is not aware of his loss. Psychologically, Loomis believes finding his wife Martha will give him a clear vision of who he was and will accompany him to start his life once again. Loomis is convinced that his wife Martha is the answer to his questions. In a conversation with Bynum, he states, Thats the only thing I know to do. I just want to see her face so I can get me a starting place in the world. The world got to start somewhere. Thats what I been looking for. Ive been wandering a long time in somebody elses world. When I find my wife that be the making of my own. (Wilson pg. 72) Loomis is in denial. Being in search of his wife is one way he can escape and overlook reality, and the pain he feels as an African slave. He is convinced his wife will help him find his place in the world and has his daughter Zonia believed the same. Bynum is one of the positive people Loomis comes in contact with after being enslaved. He understands what Loomis is in search of and does his best to slowly help him realize he does not need his wife to find himself. He answers Loomisââ¬â¢s questions about being taken away by Joe Turner in a unique way. One that Loomis never thought of before. Bynum answers He thought by catching you he could learn that song. Every nigger he catch hes looking for the one he can learn that song from. Now hes got you bound up to where you cant sing your own song. Couldnt sing it them seven years cause you was afraid he would snatch it from under you. But you still got it. You just forgot how to sing it. (Wilson pg. 73) Bynum introduces the idea of the song being his identity for the first time. An additional element that affected Loomis is him witnessing bones rise and fall back down in the ocean. This is important factor in Loomis life. He says ââ¬Å"I come to this placeâ⬠¦to this water that was bigger than the whole world. And I looked outâ⬠¦ and I seen those bones rise up out the water. Rise up and begin to walk on top of it. â⬠(Wilson pg. 3) He later realizes the bones in the water represent his ancestors that were thrown overboard while they were in the same situation as him. Loomis is privileged to witness this because it as an important fact that leads him into getting a clearer understanding of who he is. The conversation between Bynum and Loomis helped Loomis gain self-confidence and provided him the ability to start believing in him. He began to say, The winds going back into my body. I can feel it. Im starting to breathe again Im Gonna standup. I got to stand up. I cant take you no more. All the breath coming into my body and I got stand up the grounds starting to shake. Theres a great shaking. The worlds busting half in two. The skys splitting open. I got to stand up. My legsâ⬠¦ My legs wont stand up! Got to stand up. Get up on the road My legs wont stand up! My legs wonââ¬â¢t stand up! (Wilson pg. 55). However he let his conscious and lack of self-confidence get the best of him and did not allow him to completely trust himself. He talks to Loomis and helps him recognize the real problem. He also becomes aware of the fact that forgetting himself is a result of forgetting how to sing his song. Furthermore, Bynum says ââ¬Å"A fellow forget that and he forgets who he is. Forget how hes supposed to markdown life (Wilson pg. 73). For once, Loomis becomes aware of one truth he has been overseeing. In Joe Turnerââ¬â¢s Come and Gone, the Juba dance is a symbolic ritual. Bynum along with other members in the boarding house perform the dance. It is a way for the characters to reconnect themselves with their past through music and rituals. The African spirits symbolically are African ancestors that enter the Holly boarding house because they were called by the characters engaged in the Juba. Loomis however does not take part of the group celebration duality even though he himself is a man split into two and still unaware of his identity. ââ¬Å"Loomis also reveals the changing place of Christianity in the lives of former slaves and the progeny of slaves. â⬠(Shannon, Williams pg. 165). The reunion of spirits and members of the boarding house provides them with the proper future of their riotous history as they discover their true origins not only in the plantations in slavery, but in the varied cultures of Africa. The Juba allows them to learn their real identities to be an ââ¬Å"African, not Christian, though this African-ness is transfigured with multiple images drawn from a Christianity in which they may find truth and affirmation of their deepest beliefs. â⬠(Shanna, Williams pg. 163). Loomis however, is out of rhythm and harmony with other human beings. This clearly demonstrates the fact that he would not be able to partake in an activity that bring the characters together. However, it is at that time the Juba triggers Loomisââ¬â¢s rage, which leads him to have a connection with his forbearers. Bynum also uses the Joe Turner song in Act two to help Loomis realize his identity crisis ââ¬Å"They tell me Joe Turnerââ¬â¢s come and gone Ohhh Lordy They tell me Joe Turners come and Gone Ohhh Lordy Got my man and gone Come with forty links of chain Ohhh Lordy Come with forty links of chain Ohhh Lordy Got my man and goneâ⬠(Wilson pg. 67). Though Loomis does not like Bynum singing the song over and over again, essentially Bynum tells Loomis all he has to do to solve his identity dilemma is to sing his song. Still Loomis believes he needs his wife Martha to find himself. He still does not trust nor recognize the fact that he is dealing with a battle internally within himself over his identity in which he has placed Martha on one side, and Bynum and Africa on the other. Gradually, Bynum learns of the insecurities Loomis has created within himself and helps Loomis deal with it one after the other. Towards the end of the play Martha and Loomis come into contact with one another. Leading him to realize the fact Bynum has been trying to help him realize all along. Loomis realizes it is not Martha who he needs; he learns his journey is within himself. While conversing with Martha he says ââ¬Å"â⬠¦All the time that goodbye swelling up in my chest till Iââ¬â¢m about to bust. Now I see your face I can say my goodbye and make my own world. â⬠(Wilson pg. 90). He finally learns to stand a stand for him and letââ¬â¢s go of all negative thoughts and memories he has kept with him. In one of his last conversations with Bynum, Loomis states, ââ¬Å"Everywhere I go people wanna bind me up. Joe Turner wanna bind me up! Reverend Toliver wanna bind me up. You wanna bind me up. Well Joe Turner come and gone and Herald Loomis ainââ¬â¢t for no binding. I ainââ¬â¢t gonna let nobody bind me up! â⬠(Wilson pg. 91). Loomis finally has reached the place Bynum wanted him to be at. He is confident and understands his obligation. For the last time, Bynum gives Loomis the push he needs to find the man he had within him all along. He says ââ¬Å"It wasnââ¬â¢t you. Herald Loomis. I aint bound you. I bound the little girl to her mother. Thatââ¬â¢s who I bound. You binding yourself. You bound onto your song. All you got to do is stand up and sing it, Herald Loomis. Itââ¬â¢s right there kicking at your throat. All you got to do is sing it.

History Facts and Trivia from the 20th Century
History Facts and Trivia from the 20th Century While texting is relatively new, some of the abbreviations we use for it are much older than we might think. For instance, the abbreviation OMG for Oh My God! dates back to as early as 1917. The earliest reference found is in a letter dated September 9, 1917, from Lord John Arbuthnot Fisher to Winston Churchill. In the last line of Lord Fishers short letter about newspaper headlines that were upsetting him, Lord Fisher wrote: I hear that a new order of Knighthood is on the tapis O.M.G. (Oh! My God!) Shower it on the Admiralty!! John Steinbeck and Pigasus Author John Steinbeck, best known for his epic novel The Grapes of Wrath, used to often add a symbol next to his name when signing things. This symbol was a pig with wings, whom Steinbeck called Pigasus. The flying pig was a reminder that although earthbound, it was good to aspire to something higher. Sometimes Steinbeck would add in Latin, Ad Astra Per Alia Porci (to the stars on the wings of a pig). Practice Suicide Runs On November 18, 1978, Jim Jones, leader of the Peoples Temple cult, ordered all his followers living in his Jonestown compound to drink poisoned grape-flavored punch in order to commit mass suicide. On that day, 912 people (including 276 children) died in what has become known as the Jonestown Massacre. How could one person convince over 900 others to commit suicide? Well, Jim Jones had been planning to carry out this revolutionary act of mass suicide for quite some time. To ensure full compliance, Jones had staged practice runs, called White Nights, in which he would order everyone to drink what he told them was poisoned punch. After everyone had stood around for about 45 minutes or so, he would then tell them that this had been a loyalty test. The Dots in Pac-Man When the Pac-Man video game was released in 1980, it quickly became an international sensation. As kids and adults alike moved the pie-shaped Pac-Man character around the screen, they tried to eat up lots of dots without themselves getting eaten by ghosts. But how many dots were they trying to eat? It turns out that each level of Pac-Man had the exact same number of dots 240. Lincoln Logs Created by Frank Lloyd Wrights Son Lincoln Logs is a classic childrens toy that has been played by millions of children for decades. The toy usually comes in a box or cylinder and includes both brown logs and green slats for roofs, which children use to build their own frontier house or fort. Despite playing with Lincoln Logs for hours and hours as a child, you might not know that they were created by John Lloyd Wright, the son of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and were first sold by Red Square Toy Company in 1918. It would be easy to assume that Wright got the idea for Lincoln Logs by visiting an old log cabin, but that is not the case. Wright was in Japan helping his father build the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo when the idea for interlocking pieces struck him. It would also be easy to assume that the name Lincoln Logs refers to U.S. President Abraham Lincolns log cabin, but that too is not the case. The name Lincoln actually refers to the discarded original middle name of Johns father, Frank Lloyd Wright (he was born Frank Lincoln Wright). Lenin Was a Pseudonym Russian revolutionary Vladimir Ilich Lenin, also commonly called V.I. Lenin or just plain Lenin was actually not born with that name. Lenin was born as Vladimir Ilich Ulyanov and didnt begin using the pseudonym of Lenin until the age of 31. Up until that age, Lenin, still known as Ulyanov, had used his birth name for both his legal and illegal activities. However, having just returned from a three-year exile in Siberia, Ulyanov found it useful to begin writing under a different name in 1901 in order to continue his revolutionary work. Brad Pitt and the Iceman What do Brad Pitt and the Iceman have in common? Tattoos. Although the 5,300-year-old mummified remains of the Iceman, known as Otzi, was found with over 50 tattoos on his body, most of them were simple lines. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, had an outline of the Icemans body tattooed onto his left forearm in 2007. Juan Perons Hands While serving his third, non-consecutive term as President of Argentina, Juan Peron died on July 1, 1974, at age 78. His rule had been controversial, with many adoring him and others reviling him. After his death, his body was injected with formaldehyde and interred at La Chacarita Cemetery in Buenos Aires. In 1987, grave robbers opened up Perons coffin, cut off his hands and stole them, along with his sword and cap. The robbers then sent a ransom letter asking for $8 million to return the hands. Once the desecration was discovered, Perons body was sealed behind a bulletproof plate and 12 heavy-duty locks. On October 17, 2006, Perons body was moved to a mausoleum at Perons country home in San Vicente, just outside of Buenos Aires. The grave robbers have never been found. Catch-18 Joseph Hellers famous novel, Catch-22, was first published in 1961. Set in World War II, the book is a comic satirical novel about bureaucracy. The phrase Catch 22 in the novel is used to denote the vicious circle of military bureaucracy. The term Catch 22 has made it into mainstream usage to mean any two choices that are mutually dependent (for example, which came first: the chicken or the egg?). However, the term we now know as Catch 22 was almost Catch 18 for Heller had originally chosen Catch-18 as the title of the book. Unfortunately for Heller, Leon Uris published his Mila 18 novel just before Hellers book was to be published. Hellers publisher didnt think it would be good to have two books out at the same time with 18 in the title. Attempting to come up with another name, Heller and his publisher considered Catch-11, Catch-17, and Catch-14 before deciding on the title we all know, Catch-22. Insulin Discovered in 1922 Medical researcher Frederick Banting and research assistant Charles Best studied the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas of dogs at the University of Toronto. Banting believed that he could find a cure for the sugar disease (diabetes) in the pancreas. In 1921, they isolated insulin and successfully tested in on diabetic dogs, lowering the dogs blood sugar level. Researcher John Macleod and chemist James Collip then began to help prepare insulin for human use. On January 11, 1922, Leonard Thompson, a 14-year-old boy who was dying of diabetes, was given the first human experimental dose of insulin. The insulin saved his life. In 1923, Banting and Macleod were awarded the Nobel Prize for their work on discovering insulin. What was once a death sentence, people now diagnosed with diabetes can live long lives thanks to the work of these men. Why Is Roosevelt on the Dime? In 1921, when Franklin D. Roosevelt was stricken with a bout of polio that left him partially paralyzed, there were no organizations to lend support. Although Roosevelt had the money for the very best treatments for himself, he realized that there were thousands of others who did not. Also, at the time, there was no known cure for polio. In 1938, President Roosevelt helped establish the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis (which later became known as the March of Dimes). This foundation was created to help care for polio patients and to help fund research to find a cure. Funding from the March of Dimes helped Jonas Salk discover a vaccine for polio. Soon after President Franklin D. Roosevelts death in 1945, the public started sending letters to the United States Treasury Department requesting that Roosevelts portrait be placed on a coin. The dime seemed the most appropriate coin because of Roosevelts ties to the March of Dimes. The new dime was released to the public on Roosevelts birthday, January 30, 1946. The Nickname Tin Lizzie Priced so that the average American could afford it, Henry Ford sold his Model T from 1908 until 1927. Many also may know the Model T by its nickname, the Tin Lizzie. But how did the Model T get its nickname? In the early 1900s, car dealers would try to create publicity for their new automobiles by hosting car races. In 1922, a championship race was held in Pikes Peak, Colorado. Entered as one of the contestants was Noel Bullock and his Model T, named Old Liz. Since Old Liz looked the worse for wear (it was unpainted and lacked a hood), many spectators compared Old Liz to a tin can. By the start of the race, the car had the new nickname of Tin Lizzie. To everyones surprise, Tin Lizzie won the race. Having beaten even the most expensive other cars available at the time, Tin Lizzie proved both the durability and speed of the Model T. The surprise win of Tin Lizzie was reported in newspapers across the country, leading to the use of the nickname Tin Lizzie for all Model T cars. Hoover Flags When the U.S. stock market crashed in 1929, President Herbert Hoover attempted to stop the U.S. economy from spiraling into what has become known as the Great Depression. Although President Hoover took action, most people agree that it just wasnt enough. Upset at Hoover, people began to give items that represented the economic crisis negative nicknames. For instance, shanty towns became known as Hoovervilles. Hoover blankets were newspapers that homeless people used to protect themselves from the cold. Hoover flags were pants pockets that had been turned inside out, symbolizing a lack of money. Hoover wagons were old cars pulled by horses since their owners could no longer pay for gas. That honor was claimed on March 15, 1985, when Symbolics.com registered their domain name. Tug-of-War Since tug-of-war has been a game played by adults for centuries, it became an official event at the second modern Olympic Games in 1900. However, its time as an official Olympic event was short-lived and it was last played at the Olympics at the 1920 Games. Tug-of-war was not the only event to be added and then later removed from the Olympic Games; golf, lacrosse, rugby, and polo also shared its fate. The First Star on the Walk of Fame On February 9, 1960, the very first star was awarded to actress Joanne Woodward. Within a year and half, over 1,500 of the stars were filled with names. Imagecreatetruecolor() PHP Function
Imagecreatetruecolor() PHP Function The imagecreatetruecolor() function is used in PHP to create a new true color image using the GD Library. True color uses a 24-bit color depth when displaying an RGB image. Its two parameters are the width and height of the image you are creating. Sample Code Using Imagecreatetruecolor() Function This code generates a PNG image that is 130 pixels wide by 50 pixels high. The imagecreatetruecolor() function specifies a shape that is 130 pixels wide by 50 pixels high. The text color is set using RGB values. The text that will print on the shape is A Simple Text String, in size 1 (of 1-5) with an x ordinate of 5 and a y-ordinate of 5. Return Values When successful, this function returns an image identifier that represents a black image of the specified size. If not successful, it returns False. Considerations The GD library must be enabled for this function to work properly; otherwise, the return value is False. It can be downloaded free from the internet if you dont already have it installed. Imagecreatetruecolor() vs. Imagecreate() Function Although the imagecreate() function still works in PHP, the PHP manual recommends the use of the newer imagecreatetruecolor() function, which creates images with many more colorsmakes color transparency possibleallows advanced image processes
